J-JANUARY OR JULY-Well, this is tough, 'cause I get so cold in the winter my fingers turn white, so that's not fun, and I sweat like a fat kid who's really hot in the summer. Soooo I guess I'll choo-choo-choose July just 'cause I'd take sweating over freezing any day.

Wuddup G?

I decided to change the title of this post, thanks to Emily's comment. I thought it was more appropriate.

We were at Costco and I looked down to see Claire "Chillin'" in the cart. I thought it was funny enough to share. She be lookin' around saying stuff like, "Sup" and "What choo talkin' about Willis?" Wait, not that last one...

And I just thought this was a cute picture. Yes, I'm aware I'm obsessed with bandannas. But they're the best idea I've ever had. Way better than hats.

Lake Powell-YES!

I don't really feel like typing so this is going to be short. This trip was really fun. It was my first time there and I just thought it was beautiful! We went with Levi's work which means we didn't have to pay a single cent (except for gas to get there and back). The guys he works for are so fun and generous, he's so lucky to work for such great people. Hopefully this will be an annual trip! This was also my first time trying any water sports. I didn't grow up with the chance to try any of it and it was really fun even though I sucked at everything, but at least I tried, right? Anyway, Good times.

8 Month Update

Claire is now 8 months old! It's weird when you say she's been alive for 8 months. I dunno why, it just sounds different. Anyway, here are some things she's up to nowadays:

-She just started sitting up on her own from a laying down position, but still struggling a bit.
-Eats 8oz. at each feeding plus anything else she can find af
ter that.
-Stands up way easier than before, can lift herself up on almost anything she can reach.
-Loves the swimming pool as long as Levi or I are there. (Cheyenne and Kelley didn't have a good experience while we were gone on vacation).
-She'll start babbling if someone starts singing. It's real
ly
funny.
-Says "Bababa" and sometimes "Mama" comes out, and says "Gaga". It really sounds like she's trying to talk.
-Cries if I leave the room.
-LOVES peek-a-boo, but you have to completely hide your body otherwise she looks at you like you're an idiot. She pretty much just likes being sta
rtled, if you try to jump out and scare her she'll jump and then laugh.
-Still doesn't want to have anything to do with crawling or scooting
or ANYTHING that involves her tummy. I'm almost positive she'll start walking before she crawls.
-LOVES yogurt, she pretty much just loves any real food.

I think that's it. I can't think of anything else. She's just a wonderful, fun baby and I'm so glad she's ours!

House and Claire update

Just a few pictures of where our house is at and pictures of Claire and maybe some videos. I haven't decided yet.

I got this sweet bubble gun at the Z Gallerie, of all places (I'm pretty sure that's how THEY spell it, I'm not a bad speller, I promise). It's awesome, I should have taken a picture of it, but it's what it says it is, a bubble gun, so it's obviously shaped like a gun and it shoots bubbles out of it. Anyway, Claire likes watching them. Andrea, don't tell mom I was using it inside haha, she'll get mad.
THIS, my friends, is Claire's natural mohawk she once had a few weeks ago, not even a few, probably ONE week ago. Sad, her hair's growing fast but for some reason she still looks bald? How does that work? Anyway, it was awesome 'cause it was natural.

Being cute

So she loves playing with this string from my sweatshirt and she loves standing, SO, she figured out a way to do both at the same time.
Ooohhh one handed!!!
Yeah, sorry, I didn't feel like posting any videos. Bummer!

Miracle!

I have these friends, Sonya and Steven. They're already a pretty sweet couple as it is and then something amazing happened! (I think it's amazing even though every person I've told this story to says, "oh, that happens a lot." shut up, I still thinks it's a miracle.) So, I'm just going to give you a little background of this fun-loving couple. They were in our last ward and I swear we were meant to be friends because they're house-sitting a house in my parents neighborhood (who we're staying with for a short while) and so they're in our ward again for a month. How crazy is that!??!

Steven is from Ghana (that's in Africa for those of you who don't know.... kidding). He grew up there and was one of the few kids who graduated highschool. He was asked to actually be a tribal leader of his tribe there in Ghana, but he turned it down to further his education. So he came to Utah and graduated college! He's now a humanitarian worker, I'm not sure if that's the correct way to say it. Anyway, he travels back and forth from here to Ghana and spends half of his life there and half of it here with his wife, Sonya. He's 35 and if I were to guess she's about 30 or so. He has the strongest testimony of the Mormon Church out of anyone I know. He used to be our Home Teacher and whenever he'd give us a little message it would be the most amazing thing I had ever heard. He goes around giving talks to random wards because people hear about his story and they want him to share because it's so uplifting. His goal now is to be the president of Ghana! Imagine that! I told Levi we need to keep in close contact with them so we can go stay with them when he's president. Ha ha!

About Sonya, she actually grew up where my relatives live! In Centralia, WA. It's the smallest cutest place ever ha ha and so it's amazing we even met. It's rare to meet anyone who's from there unless you're actually there 'cause nobody ever leaves! She grew up Catholic and then joined the church when she was in High school. So amazing that she converted! After High school she went on a mission to... somewhere, I forgot. After Steven and she met they moved to Alaska for a while. And she says that Alaska has so much proof of the reality of Global Warming. She's told me some stories. That's for another time. She's amazing at the flute (would she be called a Flautist?). So she also goes around to random wards playing it for them and speaking to them as well. They do so much service work it's unreal. And they're SO poor!! No joke! They give of their time so liberally it's amazing and they don't even have a lot of that either. Well, they're planning on moving to Africa to help build schools there (that's what Steven does a lot of right now) and to help the church flourish in the village there in Ghana. They say that a lot of people go to the city to live because there are more members there but since they do that it doesn't help the church to grow in the village. So their goal is to get people to stay there and work on building wards and stakes and such.

So, for 5 years they had been trying to have a baby. With no such luck they decided to adopt. What most people would say is that this was a coincidence, I would say it's what Heavenly Father wanted; a couple found them. The baby's mama (ha) is white, from a small place like Sonya. Sonya says they have the exact same personality it's uncanny. And get this.... The father is from AFRICA! Not Ghana, but a city close by. They said that everything about the situation just felt unbelievably right and they were so happy, on both sides. The mom of the mom who was giving up her baby was really against her doing it, so she kept begging her to keep it but she didn't want to. When her mom met Sonya, all her doubts left her mind, knowing that she'd be more fit to raise this baby. So, a week or so before Sonya and Steven adopted this little girl, the doctor gave Sonya Klomed, not really expecting it to work since nothing else did. Well, she just found out she's PREGNANT! So her baby's due a couple of days before Rhea (their adopted girl) turns 1. How crazy is that! After 5 years, thinking she could never get pregnant, she does right after she adopts! They deserve this blessing more than anyone I know and I started sweating from excitement when she told me the great news!

Anyway, I just wanted to share that inspiring story with everyone. If you read all of this, Thanks! It was a long one.

About my Husband

1. What is his name? Levi Wayne West

2. Who eats more? He does, but not by a lot. We both don't eat a ton. Just enough.

3. Who said I love you first? I was too scared to say it first so I sort of got him to say it. It's an embarrassing story.

4. Who is taller? He is

5. Who is smarter? By far, Levi. He's one of the smartest people I know. He knows everything about everything (except don't ask him about anything that has to do with music ie: What an octave is, what harmonizing means, playing a song in a different key, yeah he doesn't get it)

6. Who is more sensitive? Oh my gosh, Levi. Haha, oh my gosh. He always makes fun of me 'cause I'm such a guy, and then I just tell him to stop being such a girl.

7.Who does the laundry? Levi does. Yeah, I know, it's sweet.

8. Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? If you are standing at the foot of the bed looking at it, he does. But we switch a lot so ask me again in a month. Okay, don't really.

9. Who pays the bills? I do, I'm in charge of all the money. Levi says he doesn't want to be the husband who works and gives his wife an allowance. What a guy. He just doesn't want the responsibility. Just kidding.

10. Who cooks more? I do, and yes, I count heating up frozen meals in the oven cooking. Suck it.

11. What meals do you cook together? Um, I don't think we cook meals together unless we have company over... so.... yeah we never do.

12. Who is more stubborn? By far, I am so bad. Even when I know I'm being stubborn I'm too stubborn to stop.

13. Who is the first to admit they're wrong? Levi, he'll even say he's wrong sometimes when he's not just so I won't be mad anymore.

14. Who has more siblings? We have the same.

15. Who wears the pants in the relationship? I definitely do. (Again, with the whole guy thing)

16. What do you like to do together? Sit next to each other and read a different book. Our most favorite thing is laying in bed at night talking. That's the best. And working out.

17. Who eats more sweets? Oh, I eat more sweets than anyone ever. Except my mom. If it grosses ME out how much sugar you're putting on your cereal or anything else, then you have a problem.

18. Guilty pleasures? Levi loves chocolate chip cookies. If there was a plate of 30 of them sitting in front of him he'd eat them all in one sitting. I have to hide them from him and each day give him 2-3. That's not me being controlling, he'll just eat a ton and then regret eating them and say he's fat (again, with the girl thing).

19. How did you meet? We met when I moved to Utah and our mutual friend Tyler Dirden introduced us. Okay, not Dirden, but another Tyler.

20. Who asked who out first? I asked him out first. Yeah!!! I rule!

21. Who kissed who first? He says I did but I think we just kissed each other. But I definitely held his hand first.

22. Who proposed? Levi did, but it would have been more appropriate for me to do it since I initiated everything else.

23. His best features? I love his eyes, hands, and his lips. He thinks his lips are too big but I think they're perfect. My lips are too thin, bla. I'm SO glad Claire got his.

24. What is his greatest quality? The fact that he can apologize and admit his wrong. That's a really hard thing for me to do but I'm working on it. I have to really humble myself before I do it and it takes me a little while. And the fact that he's so quick on his feet. Not literally, he's not like, quick like a bunny or anything, but he's quick to come up with something funny and I love it.

25. Tag? Emily, Calli, Melissa, and Jenn
